1.500 Surround Sound

Before 5.1 surround sound, there was stereo. Long before both was the original surround sound: the polychoral style of the 1500s. Les Canards Chantants invites the listener to occupy the landscape of lavish works by Victoria, Gabrieli, Byrd, Monteverdi and Tallis, and explore the acoustical architecture of the concert space in a program that exploits the drama of sound and space.

Tomás Luis de Victoria – Regina Coeli
Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina – Nunc dimittis à8
William Byrd – Ad dominum cum tribularer
Cristóbal de Morales – Parce mihi Domine
Claudio Monteverdi – O stellae coruscantes
[Nicolas Gombert] – Lugebat David
Giovanni Gabrieli – O Jesu Mi Dulcissime
Jean Mouton – Nesciens mater
Monteverdi – Sanctus and Benedictus from Missa in Illo Tempore
Victoria – Salve Regina
